About the Speaker

Dr. Duncan McRee, Ph.D., is the President of ActiveSight, a service protein crystallography company in San Diego,CA, and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Molecular Biology at The Scripps Research Institute. Prior to ActiveSight, Dr.McRee was Director of Crystallography at Syrrx from 2000-2003. Dr. McRee has been a faculty member at The Scripps Research Institute since 1989 where he ranan active program in determining metalloprotein structures by X-ray crystallography, including the first structure of a microsomal P450.

Dr. McRee has over 100 entries in the PDB and is an author on over 70 publications. Dr. McRee wrote "Practical Protein Crystallography", a popular handbook for crystallography students and is the author of XtalView, a widely used software system for X-ray structure determination. Dr. McRee obtained his Ph.D. at Duke University with David C. Richardson in 1984.
